Group Leader: Ann Tidmarsh
French (advanced) -
Friday, 10.0 to 11.0 weekly in the Hobbies Room at Brooklands. Phone first
to make sure it is on.
It is hard to believe that this group started about 15 years ago. Back
then it was basic French but we have progressed, and are still progressing,
albeit at a fairly leisurely pace. So don't be put off by the "Advanced"
label, we are a relaxed group and non-threatening.
We use a course book and CD's or audio cassettes but we also spend time
talking and discussing issues arising from authentic French material. This
can range from estate agents' 'blurbs' or recipes and advertisements
garnered from members' trips to French supermarkets to articles from
newspapers or extracts from novels. We occasionally watch videos of
programmes recorded from the BBC "French Experience" series , or sometimes a
film. We have had some holidays in France together and are planning one
at the moment for October in Nantes, travelling by Eurostar and TGV.
At the moment we are back-tracking a bit in an attempt to
improve and consolidate our use of tenses, in a fairly light hearted way.
If you feel like coming along to join the ten or twelve of us on a Friday
morning to see if it is for you we shall be pleased to see you, but no hard
feelings if it is not your scene!. |
