Gardening

Group Leader: Ruth Wallett

We are a very friendly, open group who welcomes any U3A members to our meetings & outings. During the winter months we usually have speakers or demonstrations on the 3rd Monday of the month starting at 2p.m. Our venue is the main hall at Bath Street Evangelical church. There is a charge of £2 which includes light refreshments.

We are out & about during the summer months visiting gardens locally by car & operate a car share system for those without transport. We also travel by coach to gardens further away about 3 times a year.

Our programme is available from January each year. Some of the highlights in recent years have been visits to Trentham Gardens, Batsford arboretum, Birmingham Botanical gardens, Castle Bromwich Hall gardens & Michael Hesseltine’s garden. We are also on the list to go to the garden of Prince Charles! We have seen national collections of penstemons, nerines, herbs & hyacinths. Talks have ranged from trees & shrubs to historic parks & gardens & from alpines to Christmas wreaths.

We look forward to welcoming you.
