Market Harborough
U3A Millennium Tapestry

 Fund Raising

Three people were responsible for raising the money for this enterprise.
Anne Allen (co-ordinator) obtained the grants from the Harborough District Council and the Market Harborough and the Bowden Charities and later the Awards for Everyone from the Lottery Board towards the Tapestry Booklet.

Cyril and Eve Pigott were the sponsorship secretary and treasurer respectively and through the three and a half years canvassed local firms and businesses for sponsorship and helped with the fund raising (as well as looking after the money!).

The Market Harborough USA members have always been most supportive and given time and money towards the project. Coffee mornings run by Cyril and Eve Pigott, Bunty Jones and Thelma Cant raised a considerable amount, as well as a Theatre Gala Evening run by Peggy Hartley, a tombola at a USA Christmas event run by Anne Allen and a Christmas Coffee morning at the Theatre organised by Cyril and Eve Pigott. The last big event was a Plant Stall organised and run by Jane Barrows. All of these people put in so much time, but also thanks must go to the helpers!

On behalf of Market Harborough USA, we would like to say a big 'Thank You' to all those who supported us and believed in the Tapestry — that it would become a reality!
